Job Description: Assistant Chief Engineer
The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing the maintenance and engineering operations of a hotel, resort, or property. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems are functioning efficiently and in compliance with standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations
- Supervise daily maintenance activities for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for all equipment and systems.
- Respond promptly to repair requests and emergencies.
- Team Leadership
- Assist in managing engineering staff, including scheduling and training.
- Monitor team performance and provide technical guidance.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintain safety standards.
- Energy Management
- Monitor energy usage and implement cost-saving measures.
- Maintain, electrical, and water systems for optimal efficiency.
- Inventory & Budget Control
- Manage spare parts and maintenance supplies inventory.
- Assist in preparing and controlling the engineering department budget.
- Coordination
- Work closely with other departments to minimize downtime and guest inconvenience.
- Support special projects and renovations as required.
